PC Sales Will Top 370M Units in 2011
Worldwide Mobile PC Sales to
Reach 227M Units.

In 2011 the worldwide sales of mobile PCs are projected to surpass 227M
units—up from 63M mobile PCs in 2005. Much of the growth is coming
from the iPad and similar pad and tablet devices, which are included in
the figures. In the next five years mobile PC sales will reach 400M
units—a compound annual growth rate of 17%.
Mobile PCs are gaining market share and will account for over 61% of
worldwide PCs sold in 2011—a more than tripling from 17.2% in 1995. By
2015 the sales of mobile PCs are projected to account for over 71% of
all PCs sold.

The
industrialized countries will have even higher mobile PC sales share. In
the USA mobile PCs have grown from a market share of 19% in 1995 to over
63% in 2011 with further growth to over 74% projected for 2015.
